Tata Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV Launch in Mauritius

Tata.ev has launched its electric vehicle lineup in Mauritius, marking its first entry outside the SAARC region. The models include the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev, available through Allied Motors. The Punch EV offers two battery options with notable ranges, while the Nexon EV now features a 45 kWh battery. Extensive warranties and a home charging wall box are included, reinforcing Tata’s commitment to electric mobility.

Tata.ev has officially launched its electric vehicle portfolio in Mauritius, introducing the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev models in collaboration with Allied Motors. As a significant milestone, Mauritius is now the first nation outside the SAARC region to welcome Tata’s EV line. Previously, Tata established its presence by launching vehicles—including both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EVs)—in Sri Lanka.

The Tata Punch EV is available in three distinctive variants: Smart, Adventure, and Empowered, each further offered in multiple sub-variants. Customers can select between two battery options, 25 kWh and 35 kWh, which deliver respective claimed ranges of 265 km and 365 km. Notably, it has achieved a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests.

The Nexon EV has transitioned to a single variant featuring a 45 kWh battery, discontinuing the earlier 40 kWh option. It boasts an impressive recharge capability, achieving 80 percent in under an hour, with a range of 350-375 km. The Tiago EV, a compact hatchback, has also received an update, now including a 24 kWh battery that offers a range between 190-210 km.

Each of the new Tata models is backed by extensive warranties: 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery and motor, alongside 7 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle. Furthermore, purchasers will benefit from a complimentary 7.2 kW home charging wall box, enhancing the ownership experience.

Yash Khandelwal, Head International Business at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce our electric vehicle portfolio in Mauritius, marking our first international expansion beyond the SAARC region. With the government’s strong commitment to sustainable mobility, Mauritius holds strategic importance in our EV journey.” He further asserted, “As a pioneer of the EV revolution in India and a proven success in SAARC markets, TATA.ev is well-positioned to support the country’s transition to electric mobility. Our diverse range of EVs… sets the stage for a transformative shift in Mauritius’ automotive landscape.”

In summary, Tata’s introduction of its electric vehicle line in Mauritius represents a significant expansion outside the SAARC region, through its partnership with Allied Motors. The Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV provide a variety of options, including different battery choices and substantial warranties. With supportive government policies, Tata aims to lead Mauritius towards a sustainable and transformative automotive future.
