Alexander Afenyo-Markin visited former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison after a raid by National Security operatives led by Richard Jakpa. Around 20 armed operatives searched his home, disabling CCTV and looking for non-existent vaults. After finding nothing, they left with the CCTV system, leaving the Addison family traumatized. Afenyo-Markin vows to demand government accountability.

On March 19, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin visited former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, following an alarming raid by National Security operatives. The operation, allegedly led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations, involved approximately 20 armed men who raided Dr. Addison’s residence in Roman Ridge, Accra.

The visit was reportedly spurred by Afenyo-Markin’s indignation at the raid and his commitment to seek answers from the government regarding the operation. The heavily armed security personnel disabled the CCTV system and demanded to be taken to the presumed “vaults” in Dr. Addison’s home; however, he informed them that no such vaults existed.

Witnesses reported that despite the absence of any cash or vaults, the operatives proceeded to ransack the property, leaving the family traumatized. Reports indicate that the operatives seized the CCTV monitor and control device during their search, which proved to be futile. According to a close acquaintance of the Addison family, both Dr. Addison and his family are significantly affected by this distressing incident.

The incident involving the raid on Dr. Ernest Addison’s residence raises significant concerns about the conduct of security operatives in Ghana. Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s visit underscores the seriousness of the situation, as he pledges to seek accountability from the government. The absence of any substantial findings during the raid further exacerbates the troubling nature of these events, leaving the Addison family in a state of distress.
