These included a culinary vocational classroom, assistive devices for visually impaired students, and a science laboratory. The initiative fosters educational enhancements and promotes Taiwan-SVG relations.

On February 27, 2025, the Taiwan-based charitable organization, Tzu Xing Foundation, conducted a series of ceremonies to mark the completion of educational initiatives in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Presided over by President Liza Lin, alongside CEO Ms. Freda Miriklis and Secretary Ms. Anna Hsieh, the events included the unveiling of a culinary vocational classroom at West St. George Secondary School, the donation of assistive devices for visually impaired students at Fair Hall Governmental School, and the inauguration of a science laboratory at Troumaca Ontario Secondary School, with total donations valued at approximately USD 110,000.

Co-hosted by Hon. Curtis King, the Minister of Education, and H.E. Fiona Huei-Chun Fan, the Ambassador of R.O.C. (Taiwan) to SVG, the ceremonies attracted senior educational officers, principals, and hundreds of educators and students from the involved schools. Hon. Keisal Peters and Hon. Carlos James, Ministers of Social Development and Tourism respectively, also attended specific ceremonies at West St. George Secondary School and Troumaca Ontario Secondary School, to witness the donations firsthand.

Ambassador Fan voiced her gratitude for the Tzu Xing Foundation’s contributions, highlighting its role in enhancing educational infrastructure and facilitating relations between Taiwan and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She encouraged students and faculty to pursue Taiwanese government scholarships for future academic endeavors in Taiwan, reinforcing the long-standing bilateral friendship.

Minister King acknowledged the significant impact of the Tzu Xing Foundation on education in SVG, expressing appreciation on behalf of the government. He emphasized the importance of technical and vocational education training (TVET) and expressed hope for students to gain specialized knowledge through the newly retrofitted classrooms and equipment, ensuring that the foundation’s efforts are remembered.

Previously, the Tzu Xing Foundation has made charitable contributions to various educational institutions across Asia, South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. In 2024, they expanded their reach into the Caribbean, establishing projects that included donations in Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, with the retrofitting of classrooms and equipment donations in Saint Vincent being a key component of these efforts.

The series of ceremonies co-hosted by the Tzu Xing Foundation and the Ministry of Education of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines underscores the commitment to enhancing education through modernization and accessibility. By focusing on vocational training and providing crucial equipment, both parties are fostering future opportunities for students while strengthening international ties between Taiwan and SVG. This initiative exemplifies the positive impacts of charitable contributions in educational contexts.
