Uzbekistan has become the main production center for Chevrolet Tracker in Eurasia due to halted production in China. General Motors recently closed its Shenyang plant, leading to a focus on Uzbekistan, where localization has reached 50%. The Tracker is also produced in Brazil and Argentina, enhancing its global presence.
Uzbekistan has established itself as the primary manufacturing hub for the Chevrolet Tracker crossover in the Eurasian region. This shift occurred after production in China was halted due to a decrease in domestic demand for the model. The Tracker was previously produced at the SAIC-GM Norsom plant, which closed to allow the company to concentrate on other market segments.
Recently, General Motors announced the shutdown of its facility in Shenyang, located in northeastern China. This particular plant was responsible for the production of Buick GL8 minivans and the Chevrolet Tracker for the Chinese market.
In Uzbekistan, the localization of Chevrolet Tracker production has successfully reached a level of 50%. Furthermore, the Tracker is also assembled outside of Eurasia, with production facilities located in Brazil and Argentina.
Uzbekistan’s emergence as the predominant production center for the Chevrolet Tracker marks a significant shift in automotive manufacturing within the region.
