The World Meteorological Centre Beijing (WMC-BJ) has reported that the Tropical Cyclone “Jude” has made landfall on Mozambique’s eastern coast on March 10, 2025, at 08:00 Beijing time. The cyclone is projected to move westward at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour and is expected to weaken rapidly in intensity.
In the wake of “Jude,” heavy to torrential rains are anticipated across central and northern Mozambique, as well as southern Malawi. Rainfall amounts could reach 100 to 200 mm in several areas, with certain locations potentially experiencing over 300 mm of precipitation.
Additionally, gusty winds are predicted, with speeds of 8 to 9 levels in central and northern Mozambique, along with the coastal regions and the Mozambique Channel. Near the cyclone’s center and over the sea, winds may escalate to grades 10 to 12, with gusts ranging from 13 to 14 grades.
Tropical Cyclone “Jude” is expected to bring significant adverse weather conditions to Mozambique and nearby regions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds. Authorities should remain vigilant as the cyclone progresses westward, with the potential for extensive precipitation and damaging gusts over the affected areas.
