According to his younger brother, Kamruzzaman, the attack occurred while Kamrul was closing his shop around 9:00 PM. Two youths attempted to rob him at gunpoint, stealing cash and valuables. The robbers suspected further cash was in Kamrul’s vehicle, which led to them forcing him to the car. During a heated confrontation, one of the robbers shot Kamrul in the chest, resulting in his immediate death.
Familial ties were highlighted by Kamruzzaman, who expressed that Kamrul had recently built a new house and intended to return to Bangladesh within months to marry. The family is now mourning the loss of Kamrul, especially since they had previously lost their father. Their mother has been reportedly fainting due to the shocking news of her son’s death.
The family has reached out to the Bangladeshi embassy for assistance in repatriating Kamrul’s body. SM Azharul Islam, the Daganbhuiyan upazila nirbahi officer, stated that the local administration is prepared to assist the family in bringing Kamrul’s remains back to their homeland if required.
