Mr. Riibe, a senior at St. Cloud State University, reportedly provided inconsistent statements regarding his last interaction with Ms. Konanki. One version claimed he left due to feeling ill and last saw her in knee-deep water; another suggested he witnessed her walking on the shore before passing out; a third indicated he checked on her after feeling sick in the water.
The Dominican authorities, with assistance from the FBI, have intensified their search efforts. A police spokesperson stated the investigation has grown in scope, involving more personnel, equipment, and review of security footage. Authorities confirmed Ms. Konanki was last observed swimming and identified her clothing, which was found neatly arranged on a beachside chaise lounge.
Security cameras captured Ms. Konanki departing the hotel bar in the company of friends, a moment that is now critical to the investigation. Additionally, the Hotel Riu Republica experienced a 25-hour power outage before her disappearance. However, the hotel declared that electricity had been restored prior to her last sighting.
