Morocco is experiencing severe weather due to Storm Jana, which includes heavy snowfall, rainfall, and strong winds. The DGM has issued alerts advising citizens to stay vigilant and updated on weather conditions as various regions face significant disturbances.

Morocco is currently facing severe weather conditions due to a deep atmospheric depression named “Jana,” as confirmed by Houcine Youaabed, the head of the Meteorology Department. Intensified disturbances are impacting various regions, with the northern and Rif areas experiencing particularly severe effects. This weather pattern has previously affected parts of western and southern Europe, prompting serious concerns in Morocco.

The DGM has issued alerts indicating that from Sunday to Tuesday, cold air masses associated with the depression will lead to adverse weather across multiple regions, especially the north, center, east, and southern provinces. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through regular weather updates and adhere to safety protocols.

A red-level alert has been issued, anticipating significant snowfall ranging from 40 to 70 cm above 1,500 meters in the Ifrane, Azilal, Béni Mellal, and Midelt provinces. Concurrently, an orange-level alert is in place for Guercif, Taza, and others, forecasting 20 to 40 cm of snowfall during this weather event.

Heavy rainfall is also expected, with accumulations between 80 and 150 mm anticipated from Saturday to Monday in several regions like Tanger-Assilah, Chefchaouen, and Al Hoceima. An additional orange-level alert will affect other provinces, expecting 40 to 80 mm of precipitation during a defined timeframe.

In addition to the rain, strong wind gusts reaching 70 to 95 km/h pose a risk for various provinces, especially along the northern coastal areas. Similar gusts with an orange-level alert are forecast for Jerada, Oujda-Angad, and several others.

In summary, Morocco is currently dealing with the aftermath of Storm Jana, which is causing various severe weather conditions including significant snowfall, heavy rainfall, and strong winds.
