On Saturday, in Phuket, police apprehended three foreign tourists accused of assaulting a 44-year-old Russian man, Aleksandr Belinskii, at a hotel in the Patong subdistrict. Belinskii sustained facial injuries while intervening in an alleged attempted assault on two Finnish women by the suspects.
The Finnish women reported that while in their hotel room, the three foreign men entered and attempted to perpetrate an attack. Belinskii, upon witnessing the incident, rushed to their aid and confronted the attackers, who then assaulted him before fleeing the scene.
Local authorities later identified the suspects as German nationals, Aksu Cemre Can, aged 30, and Aksu Ali Cem, aged 22, as well as Turkish national, Yanyana Salman, aged 23. The suspects claimed their intention was to escort the Finnish women back to their hotel after a night out, insisting the situation escalated after Belinskii intervened, which led to a confrontation that turned violent.
The suspects have been transported to Patong Police Station to undergo the legal process regarding the incident, as investigations continue to unfold.
