This significant event marks the first participation of the Valkyrie in hypercar competition, as it is the only road-derived model competing in both the WEC and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The Valkyrie features a race-optimized chassis and a powerful 6.5-liter V12 engine, producing over 1000 bhp in standard form but adhering to a regulated cap of 500 kW (or 680 bhp) for competition purposes.
The Aston Martin THOR Team aims to reclaim victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an achievement last accomplished in 1959. The team has assembled a competitive roster for its two-car program, featuring experienced drivers including Marco Sørensen, Tom Gamble, Alex Riberas, and Harry Tincknell. Newcomers Ross Gunn and Roman De Angelis will also compete in the opening race in Qatar as a prelude to their IMSA campaign.
